Ever have one of those favorite songs that speaks to you every time you hear it? As if the Lord is speaking directly to your heart? Below is one of my most favorite Anthony Evans’ songs... This season of our life I NEVER saw coming. Never. It hit us like a freight train. The most joy-filled, beautiful, snuggly, giggling freight train. But that caboose....it’s a doozy. The caboose has run over us, backed up, and run over us again. Repeatedly. I have learned more than I ever cared to know about the nature of people in this last year. I’ve realized that not all people see the world as I do. I’ve realized that some people you can not kill with kindness. Your best efforts will never be what they want from you. You know what I’m slowly learning? That all that matters is what God thinks of me. PERIOD. After the week I’ve had, this song reminded me today where to put my focus and my effort. What is the LORD asking of me in this season? Just to love. To love this precious baby girl He has placed in our arms. To show her the love of Jesus in all circumstances. To show love to others even when they are unkind to me is important...but it’s ok to protect my heart too in the process. I’m practicing standing still in these days. One of my favorite verses is Exodus 14:14. I’ve claimed it many times. Today it was part of our Sunday school lesson. Think God can’t speak to you? He speaks friend. Vegetables from my grandparents' garden, southern staples like cornbread, meat...not at every meal, but lots. My mom cooked from scratch, I don't remember many boxed, processed foods as a child.
